It’s easy to be overwhelmed by all of life’s demands.
It may seem that there’s nothing you can do about your stress level.
The bills aren’t going to stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day for all your errands, and your career or family responsibilities will always be demanding.
Poor management of stress is hazardous to your (and your family’s) health.
These day-to-day demands can cause you to shut down emotionally. You’ve probably noticed how it’s affected your relationship with your spouse or children.
The tension is high, and they can’t just enjoy you when you’re home. Sure, you’re physically there, but mentally and emotionally, you’re still at work. NOT COOL!
Poorly managed stress touches every area of your life…
Your body…
Your heart feels like bursting…
You feel smothered, like you’re gasping for air…
Your muscles feel tight to the point of exploding…
You find yourself overacting or freezing when you should act…
Your emotions…
Do you ever feel terrified or panicked… enraged or aggressive… hopeless or doomed… worthless, or sure-to-fail?
Your thoughts…
Unregulated or uncontrolled stress can make you feel confused.
Your memory can suffer, resembling a broken puzzle.
You might “draw blanks,” shutting down mentally from time to time.
Your actions…
Have you done things you might not otherwise do – like avoiding problems, taking risks, reacting reflexively, or making messes in your life?
We can help you decompress and reconnect with yourself and others.
We’ll help you understand the sources of the stress you are dealing with.
- Understand what stress is
- Recognize the signs of stress
- Discover how stress affects different areas of your life
- Learn tools to keep stress from becoming overwhelming
- Identify potential areas in your life that need adjusting
We’ll identify the people in your life that will be on your support team.
The worst thing you can ever do when feeling stressed is to bottle it up. We are all guilty of this at some point, but thankfully there’s an easy solution, TALK. Use your support system, be it friends or family. However, don’t worry about getting advice from these people. The idea is to get it off your chest.
We’ll help you learn to RELAX!
There are truly hundreds of ways to relax. The problem is that we never allow ourselves to do these things. You need to find something that works for you. Typically, hobbies or activities involving using your hands can help take your mind off of your stressful situation. Additionally, breathing is an easy yet amazing stress reliever. So take some deep breaths.
Finding true rest for your soul is important for every aspect of your life.
Friend, the truth is you feel overwhelmed, tired, down, angry, or stressed out. So let’s call it what it is. Maybe you have one area of your life that’s stressful, or perhaps you have too many things in your life. Either way, stress builds (and will keep building) until you reach your limit.
Your limit may be as simple as your body making you take a break by getting a headache or catching a cold. Stress can lead to isolating or emotional outbursts (ever do or say something you didn’t mean due to stress?). Sometimes stress can lead to more serious issues, including heart problems, substance abuse, hurting oneself or someone else.
Please don’t wait any longer. At Encouraged Counseling, we will come alongside you and help you learn to deal with your stress.
Together, we’ll explore the patterns in your life that are causing you to be stressed out. We will look at the options that can help you find some needed relief.
We’ll look at every aspect of your life: your physical, emotional, spiritual, and even relational that will need improvements. Then, we will create a plan that is unique to your needs and goals.
